Busy yet exciting
I also hosted a group of 35 Deyi Secondary School pupils on wednesday. They came to use our cyberwellness trail and learn more about the the different issues/ topics of cyberwellness, such as Netiquette, Cyberbullying and Copyright.
However, I did meet up with some of my friends too. Really had a great time with them. And guess what?? My hubby and I went to take the 30 minute flight on the Singapore flyer to savour the magnificent skyline views, stunning scenery and waterfront architecture. We are in the midst of the Olympics and Singapore has finally got a silver medal!
Congratulations, Singapore!
Let's also put our hands together for Michael Phelps who has won eight gold medals! WOW! He's truly our great Olympic champion.
“Nothing is impossible. With so many people saying it couldn't be done, all it takes is an imagination, and that's something I learned and something that helped me.” Phelps said.
I hope all of you will heed his advice...and look upon him as a role model. Always strive for the best, nothing is impossible!
For this week, I want you to reflect on the Olympics and what it means to you. To help you with your reflection, I have listed some questions below:
1. What is the origin of 'Olympics' ?
2. Why is it such an important event in sports?
3. Have you watched any Olympic event? Why/Why not?
4. Which athlete/s or event impresses you most? Why?
5. Would you like to participate in the Olympics Games? If so, what event would you like to take part and why?

Personal Reponse: Earthquake
I truly feel that we are indeed extremely fortunate to be able to live in Singapore, a place we can call our 'home', a place which is always safe and free from natural disasters. These 2 weeks, I have been following up the news on the 2 Asian tragedies, Wuhan China earthquake and Myamar cyclone. My heart goes out to the parents of the lost children and all the victims of these disasters. earthquake and other too frequent natural disasters. Sometimes, we take happiness for granted and blame everyone around us whenever things are not done the way we wanted. . . I should love and treasure the everyone around us ...
Now that the exams are over, I would like you to spend some time reflecting on the things you have done this term. It is also good if you can spend some time reading. As the earthquake in China is still fresh on everyone's mind, I would like you to learn a little more about it. Hence, for this week, you will read about earthquake in the link below:
http://earthquake.usgs.gov/learning/kids//
To help you in your personal response, I have prepared some questions below:
1. What are the causes of earthquake?
2. What can people do when there is an earthquake?
3. Do you think scientists can detect an earthquake? If so, how do they do it?
4. Where have earthquakes occurred?
5. Why do these countries have earthquakes?
6. Do you think there will be an earthquake in Singapore? Why?
Do explore the link given. I hope you have learned more about earthquakes.
I am eagerly waiting to read your personal response.

Friendship...
- Loves you for who you are
- Doesn't give up on you
- Forgives your mistakes
- Gives unconditionally
- Helps you
- Inspires you to be the best you can be
- Says nice things about you
- Understands and Values you
If you have a friend, who truly understands you and accepts you despite your shortcomings, then you are the luckiest person in the world. I feel fortunate to have good friends. Over the years, I have realized the value of friendship and I feel blessed to have great friends. Friends are extremely important to me. Without my friends, and definitely my famly, I won't be who I am today. I used to be very shy and timid when I was much younger. Whenever, I need to raise a question in class or ask my tecahers for help, I would approach my friends to do it for me. Does this sound familar to some of you...?( Some girls in P3.4 are just as shy too). However, I learned to speak up more and this definitely boost up my confidence level. Now, I am able to stand in front of the class of 40 kids and deliver lessons. I really have to thank my friends for encouraging, motivating and inspiring me along the way. We should always treat friends with sincerity, show emphathy and be truthful with them. Writing so much about friends, I shall now introduce you to my best friend... a friend who has stood by me for 8 years and many years to come... a friend who will always think of ways make me laugh and be happy....a friend who shares my sorrow and happiness...he is none other than my hubby, Uncle Patrick!! :)
Do we look like lawyers to-be? :P
My dear boys and girls, what about you? What is friendship to you? Share your friendship stories with me....

Memorable Day @ APS
Last Friday, 7th March, it was Anderson Sports Carnival. The school has specially planned a series of activities/ games for them. There were bouncy castle (the kid's No. 1 favourite), indoor rowing, archery, and etc. They were also elated by the large candy floss @ the cost of only 20 cents. The kids really enjoyed themselves a lot!!! What made the day more meaningful for P3.4 is the interaction they had with the pupils from Chao Yang School. The kids really played excellent hosts to the Chao Yang pupils by bringing them round the school, taking part in all the activities and interacting with them. Boys and Girls, Mdm Phua is proud of you. I enjoyed the day with you too! Enjoy the clip I had prepared for you...

1st IT lesson :)
I had my 1st IT lesson with P3.4 on 15Jan o8. I was pretty excited as I would like to see my pupils engaged in their learning. They are the "technokids" of Primary 3. Eversince the first day of school, a few of them have been showing me flash( storage) cards and asking me stuff related to IT. They have also been pestering me for days as to when we'll be having IT lesson. As such, on 15 Jan08, they waited in much anticipation as I went to push 2 big metal cabinets of laptops to the class. Being a gentle lady, I definitely need the help of a strong gentleman, Mr Justin, our ICT executive.
WAH!!! WOW!! These were the sounds made by my kids... Afterwhich, Mr Justin and I explained and demonstrated to the kids the correct way to handle laptops and operate them with great care. Trust me, the kids were attentive and at the same time, excited!!!
Though we couldn't do much work on the laptop on that day, the kids have learnt how to retrieve a laptop from the cabinets. This is definitely a great start for them. They are all looking forward to next week's IT lesson on creating application form using Microsoft Words application.
....to be continued...
